S200B in Home Assistant
Hey, are there any plans to make the S200B buttons usable in home Assistant or Google Home (i.e. to execute a click)?
Otherwise I would switch to another system and sell my existing switches.

To ensure device performance and stability, Tapo API is not open to the public, hence linkage with open-source platforms is not supported.
Google Home, as of my last check, still doesn't support the device type 'smart button', that's why the S200B cannot be integrated to Google Home and used in routines.

@Wayne-TP So this means we cannot expect any progress in the HA integration for tapo devices? its horrible as it is, motion sensors specifically, seems like the time to move away from the brand. i really like the Sub Giga technology whcih makes the connections reliable over distance, but makes no sense if you guys are not making the API public or does'nt give good enough support to the official integration. motion sensors take 10-20 seconds to record the movements, and are not consistent. the automation "methods" in the app are too primitive compared to the python automations i can do with HA. Dissapointing really. had high hopes for this brand. Thought it would be as good as their routers. and networking equipment. Gonna move to philips hue / Aquara over Zigbee. eventhough they are expensive. i guess this is what i get for being a cheapo.

Thanks for the answer,
that's right Google Home really doesn't support the buttons unfortunately.
Tapo has an integration in Home Assistant and the Tapo app can also enable support for Home Assistant under Beta -> “Compatibility with third-party providers”. Unfortunately I am not a developer but I have often read that it is actually supported but the sensor does not give out its “press” via the interface, but only the battery status.
But it doesn't really matter, I've now sold my S200B and bought something from another company with direct support for HA.
By the way, all other products work great with HA. :)

@Spider1996
Hey @Spider1996,
which one did you go for? i'm also ditching my Tapo sensors which are connected to hub. if you are using their motion sensors, how's your experience with them?
Regards,
CJ

@CJ94 I have only replaced the buttons with Shelly BLU buttons. These even work directly without integration into a cloud or app. Everything else (GU10 lamps, Kasa thermostats, door sensors, sockets) that I have from tplink works great with Home Assistant. The direct integration of the BLU buttons also means there are far fewer delays. You press it and the light is switched on immediately instead of having to wait 3 seconds. That's why I can only recommend using something that runs locally and not via the cloud

Compatibility with smart home platforms should be done via Matter which is a standard, not the proprietary Tapo API.
Adding Matter compatibility like other vendors do is already a feature request.
The H100 hub required for the S200B is already a Matter bridge, there is no technical reason to not make it compatible so the button can work in Home Assistant, SmartThings, Apple Home, Hubitat and any other platform with support for Matter buttons.

I have the new S122 relay, it have detach relay but i only can activate that on Tapo app.
Join the Works with Home Asssistant like other brands, be a thrustful brand. 👌👌

@CJ94 late to the thread but Tapo T100 motion sensors are great (instant reaction) when the H100 hub is added using Matter rather than the TP-Link migration. I also use Shelly Blu sensors but the T100s are better (faster, and better coverage I think)
The S200 buttons do show up but without the events which is such a shame.

Came here to check the same thing, if the switches could integrate directly with HA, but given the answer, I'm glad I haven't gone all in on the TAPO eco system. Anyone want to by 3 light switches, an infra sensor and a hub? Looks like I'm shelling out for some new hardware.
