Model: RE600X   RE455
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 210618

Hello all.

I just got a new router from my ISP, it's an EX233v running the firmware EX233v_1.0_EO_240115

I have two extenders, one RE455 (AC1750) v1.0 running firmware 1.0.0 Build 20191209 Rel. 52814(6985), and one RE600x (AX1800) v1.0 running firmware 210618.

The EX233 router supports EasyMesh, but I believe the RE455 doesn't support the Mesh standard at all, and the RE600x does support OnMesh, but not EasyMesh.

How can I set up a Mesh network between the EX233 and the RE600x without using EasyMesh?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am afraid, you can't.

TP-Link's router models designed for ISPs do not support OneMesh. OneMesh and EasyMesh are not compatible with each other.

The reason why TP-Link's regular "Archer" models that support EasyMesh can be paired with range extenders that support OneMesh is because these router models support both Mesh standards.

You still have the option of connecting the RE455 and RE600x as regular range extenders and change the names of the extended networks to be identical to names of the EX233v's wireless networks, but of course this setup would not assist your wireless client devices with the roaming between the APs.

  @woozle thanks!

What if I replace both my extenders with a model (i.e. the 705X) that support Easymesh, then?

That should work.

Just a word of caution. Setting up an EasyMesh network between a TP-Link router model designed for ISPs and a regular TP-Link EasyMesh extender has shown to be not as straighforward as setting up an EasyMesh network between a TP-Link retail router (Archer) and a TP-Link EasyMesh extender. As you can see if you browse through the Range Extenders forum, some users have had difficulties setting them up.

Thanks. I have just got a 705X (V1), and it's now "EasyMesh-ed" with the EX233v. Guess I'm getting another one and replace both the 455 and the 600...
