Model: TL-WA855RE
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: TL-WA855RE(EU)_V5_1.0.13 Build 231115

Hi,

I upgraded the firmware of my TL-WA855RE extender two weeks ago. It is a version 5.0/US; however, I did not pay attention to the firmware I downloaded, which is TL-WA855RE(EU)_V5_1.0.13 Build 231115. I successfully installed it on my US version extender, but it is an EU version. Does this matter? Since then, I have been experiencing issues with the extender. Whenever there is a power outage and the power returns, the extender continuously loses connection to the main modem. The workaround is to either restart the modem or reset the extender and reconfigure it from the beginning. Is there a method to downgrade to TL-WA855RE(US)_V5_191118?

Thanks

Hi,

Both, TP-Link's EU website and the US website link to the exact same firmware file, so it makes no difference. Hence the issues you are experiencing are not because you installed the "wrong" firmware.

In most cases it is possible to re-install an older firmware version as long as only the minor version number changes (the rightmost number). What I mean is that going from version 1.0.13 back to version 1.0.0 should theoretically be possible.
