Kasa Smart Wifi Plug Slim Matter and Homekit

The onboarding process is making me crazy.
In the 'Add a Smart Plug' screen (Kasa Smart app on iOS), I was able to set up the 2 units (via the 'Smart Plug Lite / Mini choice) but then found they were only visible to the Kasa app; not in Apple's Home app. So I 'Removed' one of the smart plugs and then did the factory reset for good measure. If I choose either 'HomeKit Smart Plug (Wi-Fi)' or HomeKit Smart Plug or Matter Smart Plug, the app is unable to find a smart plug. I can't add the plug using the Home app, either.
Also, for the plug set up in the Kasa app, I don't see detailed energy reporting. The 'Runtime' tab shows 'Current/Total Runtime' for Today but it doesn't show how many amps for watts were consumed. This is the ONLY reason I bought this product is for monitoring energy usage.
Help please before I send these back.

Please double-check your device model, do you have a Kasa HS103? This model does not support Matter, HomeKit, and neither is the Enegy monitoring feature.

KP125M (P2 means two pieces) does support Matter and energy monitoring feature, but these are definitely not supported on the HS103.
Where did you purchase the device? Was it from an official seller, such as Amazon or TP-Link's official store? Is the device brand new? Were there any signs that the product had been previously opened when you received it? I think you may need to contact the seller to report this situation.

I purchased these on August 2, 2025, via Amazon.ca from the "Kasa Smart Store":
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BYGRLRS1?ref_=pe_123916410_1039242100_t_fed_asin_title&th=1
Two little pieces of documentation were in the package and the plugs appear unused. The only thing I recall that was slightly unusual was that the tape securing the top flap of the package appeared to already be broken. I didn't think anything of it at the time as the package seemed unmolested otherwise.
Ugh, now I have to mess around with a return. I should have just ordered the Eve Energy product rather than trying to save a few bucks.

The store is an authentic seller, that's not a problem. It seems like Amazon didn’t check the product carefully before shipping, and when processing the return, which led to you receiving an opened product that someone intentionally swapped out the internal items.
Please contact them for a replacement as soon as possible.
