This should be an extremely easy one week engineering build for you fine folks at TP-Link Tapo Division. You simply take a TAPO Smart Plug and you add a dry contact normally open relay to it and add a momentary contact. This Contact should be able to be set at .5 of a second. You could easily make a ton of money off of this. The vast majority of carage door openers still have momentary contact pads for opening and closing of the doors. You could then bundle in a new tilt sensor as well.

Do you want a switch module? The new Tapo S112 smart switch module might meet your needs, it's not only a switch, but also works as a roller shutter control. Tapo S112 - Smart Switch Module

@OADINE That’s a really clever idea—combining a smart plug with a relay and momentary contact could make garage door openers much smarter without reinventing the wheel. Adding a tilt sensor would definitely round out the setup and make it more reliable. For anyone dealing with real-world opener issues, Garage Fixers in Tallahassee are also a helpful resource.

As already mentioned, in some markets the S110E and S112 are already available to do just this kind of thing.  But in the US, still not available.

I ended up doing this exact thing, a Kasa/Tapo smart plug along with a simple relay and a 1 second turn on/off smart action.  In addition, I use a T110 door sensor to let me know when a door is open or closed, rather than relying on the smart action.  Finally I placed cameras pointed at the doors.  This not only allows for opening and closing the doors, but a simple notification will tell me the door is open/closed and its status (let's say friends or relatives open it) and the camera provides the additional redundancy of visual verification.  I've had a door sensor fail before (I think I didn't position it perfectly) and the camera at least gave me peace of mind when I was nowhere near home.

Anyway I have this kind of setup on three doors at two properties and I even set one up for a buddy at their place for the same purpose.
