Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have a Deco Mesh system in my home consisting of 3 Deco x50 and one x20. Fibre to the property, 500mb speed, main deco with satellite decos connected via Ethernet.

They've been working fine (mostly) for a year or so, and are running the latest firmware.

However over the last few weeks the internet / WiFi is really unstable. Pages / apps / steaming take ages to load and then work for a time; then buffer; disconnect; then connect; then work, then buffer..... and so on.

Same issue on on iPhones, TVs, everything. Wired connection doesn't seem to be affected just WiFi.

Tried running an optimisation and rebooting countless times but nothing works. It's as if the signal has gone really weak, devices dropping out etc.

For example my doorbell always worked fine but now drops out daily. Bedroom TV WiFi buffers constantly, iPhones take ages to load pages then when they do load I get decent speeds.

Anyone got any advice?

We had a power cut about a fortnight ago and the issues appeared to start the same time, but could be coincidence.

I considered doing that as they're all currently in Router mode, but I use one of the decos as the router so I can't see a way to put the satellite decos in AP mode whilst leaving the main deco as the router in router mode?

@Jaybird80 If you use the Main Deco into AP Mode so the Satellite Decos will automatcally goes into AP Mode. You don't need to do anything extra.

Does the main deco not need to be in router mode as it is acting as my router? I don’t have a separate router

sorry you've lost me, my tech knowledge isn't great. I have 4 decos, one of which replaced my router from my internet service provider. I have fibre optic to the home with a deco acting as a router

@Jaybird80 Your Main Deco is connected through ISP router by using ethernet cable and Deco is using Dynamic IP Address right?

No my main deco is the router. I have a fibre optic connection to my home that has a ISP modem and the main deco connects to that and works as the router

  @Jaybird80

Hi, can I have the firmware version of the Deco X50 and Deco X20?

Have you tried to separate 2.4 GHz from 5GHz, such as:

  • Disable 2.4Ghz under the Main WiFi network.
  • Enable IOT network for 2.4GHz only.

Then check if only one band is unstable?

By the way, how many wireless clients do you have? Would there be a lot of smart home devices?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
