Model: Tapo L920-5
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.11 250313 095031

The task is simple, but seems to be impossible.

I have the motion sensor T100 and the lightstrip L920.

The lightstrip should go ON when the sensor detects motion.

However, the lightstrip is on when pluged in, or after a power outage.

Is it really impossible to say the lightstrip to stay off when plugging it to power?

Hue has an option how the lightstrips behave after power outages (on/off/last state)

did I buy the wrong product? Is there a workaround, or did I miss something?

Yess! There is no ‚Turn On/Off‘, but there is a (translated from German) in the section ‚original condition‘ -> ‚last on state‘ and ‘user defined‘, the ‚last on state‘ does the job, if the lightstrip was lnltlially off, before the power cuts off. Thabk you!

  @Lowmaster

Not sure if this feature is available on your device, you can confirm this yourself: go to the light strip's Device Settings page in the Tapo app, click Default State, check whether an 'Turn ON/OFF' is available. This feature will adjust the lighting device to its previous state after being restored from a power cut.
