Model: TX401   Archer BE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1

I've upgraded my Archer BE550 v1.0 to 1.2.1 ( 1.2.1 Build 20250813 rel.27119(4555))

I have a motherboard with 5G realtek port and a tplink TX401 card (10G). DHCP is not working for either and setting static IP does not solve the connectivity problem.

Tried on the 5G/10G adapters connected via 100M switch - still does not work.

Connected the 5G to a tplink TL-WR740N (v1.8 - 10+ years router) and it received the IP without problems.

I have a motherboard with 1G ethernet adapter - this one gets the IP without problems.

Cables are all at least 6a.

WiFi works fine (phone,pc,laptop).

Tried on windows 11 and linux.

Hello @kuel ,

Thanks for contacting our community.

May I know the hardware version of your adapter? Is it V2? Please install the driver of TX401 driver of TX401 via official website.

Please tell me the operating system of your PCs and test if the driver can work.

  @kuel

It looks like this is a firmware-related issue with BE550 v1.2.1 not handling 5G/10G Ethernet ports properly. For now, the workaround is to:

  1. Use a 1G port on the router if possible, as DHCP works there.

  2. Avoid static IP on the affected ports—firmware seems to block connectivity.

  3. Check for beta or upcoming firmware from TP-Link that explicitly mentions 5G/10G Ethernet fixes.

  4. Report the issue to TP-Link support with your setup details—they may provide a hotfix or timeline for resolution.

This confirms it’s not a cable or OS issue, since it works with older routers and 1G ports.

@kuel This looks like a firmware-level compatibility issue with the BE550’s DHCP handling on 5G/10G NICs. Since both Windows and Linux fail, and older routers assign IP without problems, the router is the bottleneck. Roll back to firmware 1.0 or 1.1.x and test—most users report 1.2.1 causing negotiation/DHCP issues on multi-gig ports. Also try forcing the NIC to 2.5G/1G link speed as a temporary fix. If that works, report it to TP-Link support so they can patch the 1.2.1 multi-gig bug.
