Configuration Overview

 

I have been using a new Mesh network for several weeks, which consists of:

  • One main unit (Router) Deco BE65.

  • Two satellite units Deco BE65.

  • One satellite unit Deco BE25. All satellite units (both BE65 and BE25) are connected to the main router using a wired Ethernet Backhaul (CAT6 RJ-45 cables).

 

Problem Details

 

All units are working stably, with the exception of one specific Deco BE65 satellite unit, which randomly restarts once or twice per day.

 

Steps Taken So Far

 

  1. Support Contact: I have consulted with Polish technical support, who recommended standard troubleshooting procedures.

  2. Diagnostics and Swapping: I performed a factory reset on the unit and swapped the physical locations of the satellite units. The problem consistently occurred with the unit fulfilling that specific satellite role/location, regardless of which physical device it was.

  3. Cable Verification: All network connections use CAT6 RJ-45 cables, which have been verified using a cable sensor. My previous network (based on Linksys devices) operated on the exact same cable infrastructure without any stability issues.

  4. Hardware Replacement: Upon request, the seller replaced the potentially faulty BE65 unit with a brand new one. After reconfiguring the new unit into the problematic role/location, it exhibits identical, random restart behavior.

 

Request for Assistance

 

Considering these are premium devices, my expectation is high-level stability. I kindly request your assistance in diagnosing the root cause of this persistent issue. I am ready to provide any deeper diagnostic logs or information required, and I am available for a remote session with a TP-Link Support Engineer.

Is the satellite deco rebooting around the same time everyday? Is the LED on the front going red when its offline? It might be a firmware issue between the BE65 and the BE25 that needs to be addressed but not sure.

  @HelpFixDecoApp unfortunatelly no. DECO BE65 keeps restarting completry randomely one or twice per day. There is always same bechavior like there is first yellow light start flashing then red and then after few minutes it back to normal work with the green indicator. Nevertheless it is very flustrating. To this particular satelite I have wired connection with XBox console as well as Samsung Tizen TV. Imagine I am playing online or watching something on Netflix and sudenly bam restart. I submited the logs according to the instruction you have provided. Not sure where it goes (to global support / or to the polish one).  Out of respect for Polish TP-Link support, I assume they won't help me. Advice like restarting the device or swapping the order is just a waste of time.

  @kalatos 

 

You said they had you swap the positions of the deco with another one. Did they also have you move the problem deco closer to the main unit to see if that was the problem? A yellow solid light means it has a problem with its internet connection. So it "could" be to far away from the main unit. To be honest not sure where it goes but i did tag one of the members of the tp-link staff on this post so he can hopefully help you out.

  @HelpFixDecoApp here it seems it does not matter as there is wired connection in between min router and this particular satellite. The cable is not longer than ~25m

By the way, is there another separate power socket around this location in case the power supply is insufficient when Deco/Xbox/smart TV are all plugged in?

  @David-TP Deco is connected there to the totally separate power supply which is located right in the wall. Case id TKID251106273. I was considering before buy whether to go with home Deco or Omada as I am advance user. 
 

Now I regret a little that I went to the Deco series because of the very limited configuration options and the problems I am experiencing. I see that the case is not isolated. Other people in the past also often reported exactly the same problem.
