Fix device time when different from app
All,
after struggling to update device time I was able to find a fix without the need to reset the device.
after a network or power outage it seems devices default to Dawson time zone.
once there is a mismatch between device time, network time and/or app time, any schedules or timers will not carry through to the device, or be visible, but once the time is corrected they come straight back.
you can't directly update a device from its settings, it must get the time from your app settings or your router.
if using iOS ensure that in iOS settings for the Kasa app that location is enabled to 'always' or 'while using app'.
within Kasa app.
- go to Me --> settings --> location and time.
- click on the location sync'ed time and allow the app to sync location.
- once done, select 'time zone', then choose a time zone outside of your area. Any seems to work.
- go into the device settings and confirm that the device time has updated to the new setting.
- go back to Me --> settings --> location and time.
select time zone, and this time choose the correct time zone.
- verify in the device settings that the correct zone is populated.
- verify any schedules or timers have returned.
