Hello,

I think it would be very useful to be informed about electricity outage.

In a safety system or just to check that the fridge is off (you can't get this with TAPO plugs) this is a key point

I assume that:

- internet connection must be guarantee (UPS)

- this possible "sensor" should necessarily be connected to a plug (to catch when the power is off) but must have a (rechargeable?) battery to stay alive in case of outage, send notifications and other..

It would be nice also if it could understand that the power is back.

This should not be a difficult implementation and - as you can check - on the market there are not good solution available, most of them based on a regular ping of a server that takes time to react and conclude there should be an issue with the electricity and , of course, external to TAPO ecosystem.

Kind regards

Tapo doesn't have anything for that, I already asked. I solved it myself with a T300 water detector, which I repurposed.

The T300 has a battery monitor that alerts you when the battery is low.

Take a 5V or 12V power adapter and connect a 5V or 12V relay with normally closed and normally open contacts to its output.

Now, when power is present, the relay will activate, and its normally closed contact will be open.

On the underside of the T300, there are two threaded contacts; connect the wires of the normally open and normally closed contacts to these.

In the event of a power failure, the voltage at the power adapter drops, the relay deactivates, the normally closed contact closes, and the T300 sounds an alarm.

I did suggest a power meter to monitor the mains meter, like the friend signee one. An additional benefit would be that it could notify you if there was no power for a certain length of time

That is alright if you are at home, but if away, the noise would annoy my 2 dogs and cause them to bark :) But I like the sideways thinking, I will order more sensors and find a temp solution :)

Not really.

Just switch local Alarm on T300 off and configure a Message to your Cellphone.

Greetings to your Dogs :-)
