Home Assistant is not an officially supported third‑party platform. New firmware releases sometimes include security fixes and updates, and if the profile or connection method used doesn’t integrate these changes, connection issues can occur. This is a common situation with unofficial integrations.

There is a Third-Party Compatibility feature in the Tapo app. You can try enabling it before linking with Home Assistant to see if that helps. However, please note that enabling this option may introduce security risks and does not guarantee compatibility with unofficial third‑party platforms. Frequently asked questions about the "Third-Party Compatibility" feature

Its always a risk when you upgrade it. also TP link doesnt really release API to the public. What we see in HA are created by the community via a third party integration.

Thats why i use matter tapo device if possible where it is more stable than HACS (requires internet 3rd party).

Actually i use the official TP-Link Smart Home integration, no HACS here.

And like i said, it's auto update so...

@jeremypsl

I had the exact same issue with 1 of my 7 GU10 Lights updating to 1.4.2 i simply went into the phone App then Me then Third-Party-Services then Third-Party Compatability and enabled it, Tunred of the lights and waited and turned back on and all worked fine.
