tp-link AX1800 can't connect to my new Tesltra modem.
I have just purchased a tp-link wi-fi 6 Range Extender and can't get this to link to my new Telstra modem.
The Tether app is detecting the extender and my modem. I enter bpth passwords for 2.4ghz and 5ghz but it fails to connect.
I've even tried to push thew wps button on my modem and the extender but still doesn't connect to the internet. Does anyone have any ideas to try?

Hello @Lisad1 ,
Welcome to our community.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that should help:
1. Place the extender next to the host modem/router during setup
Make sure the extender is very close to your Telstra modem while configuring it. Once setup is complete, you can move it to a better location.
2. Ensure your modem's Wi-Fi is not hidden
If the Wi-Fi network is hidden, you'll need to manually enter the SSID (Wi-Fi name) and password during setup.
3. Verify the Wi-Fi password
On your phone, forget your Telstra modem's Wi-Fi network, reconnect to it manually, and carefully re-enter the password to confirm it's correct. (Guide: How to remove existing wireless network profile on Android&iPhone)
4. Check for MAC filtering or Access Control on your modem
If your Telstra modem has MAC filtering or Access Control enabled, it may be blocking the extender. Disable this feature and try again (contact Telstra support if needed).
5. Optimize your router's Wi-Fi channel
Interference from other networks can cause connection issues. Try setting your modem to a fixed channel:
• 2.4GHz: Use channel 1, 6, or 11
• 5GHz: Use channel 36, 40, 44, or 48
(Guide: How to change wireless settings on TP-Link Wireless Router)
6. Reset and reconfigure the extender
Use a pin to press and hold the reset button for 1 second until all LEDs flash. Then open the Tether app, tap the "+" icon, and follow the on-screen setup instructions. (Setup Guide: How to configure Range Extender via Tether APP)
7. Update the extender's firmware
After a successful setup, check if a firmware update is available, as this can improve connectivity. (Guide: How to Update Your TP-Link Extender Firmware: Three Methods)
