Tapo Light Bulb L530 doesn’t switch on/off from iOS app
Hi,
I have several L530 Light Bulbs set up in my Tapo app and all of them work correctly, manually switching them on/off and the automation that switches them daily works except for one of them which the other day started to not switch on/off by either manual action or the automation itself. The bulbs are all up to date on their firmware.
I tried doing several hard resets, removing from app and adding again, set it with a different name but I get the same behavior. Strangely if I set it to trigger from a button (S200) it works but from the app I cannot control it.

Thanks for your reply. To your first point not exactly, the bulb doesn't work with a time based automation or by just manually trying to switch it on/off from the app directly but if I attach a button action to it it works.
This behavior started a few days ago, before I had it for several months working perfectly (automatically switching on at sunset and also switching it from the app).
With further tests I finally managed to make it work and the key point was changing the wifi network it was connecting to. I have two wifi networks, one coming directly from my ISP router and another which is a mesh wifi provided by several devices accross the house. Funnily enough all my 10+ Tapo devices are connected to the mesh wifi but now I had to change that specific bulb to the other wifi in order to make it work again.

Well, this is something I haven’t seen before. Does that mean if you switch the automation trigger to another device type or use a time trigger, the bulb still doesn’t turn on?
Can you confirm whether the automation is running at all? You might want to look for error logs in the app: Smart tab > top right > History.
- Please ensure the smart bulb is running the latest firmware.
- Try to delete and reinstall the Tapo app on your phone.
- Use another phone, see if the problem still persists.
If after the above tests and steps, only this particular bulb continues to malfunction, and since it’s the only device showing the abnormality — I’d suggest starting with a replacement. However, if the problem persists even with a new unit, then further investigation is required.

That’s a bit unusual, since normally you should be able to add and manage all your smart devices under one account, even if they’re on different networks.
Anyway, it's glad to hear the issue has been resolved!
