How to use the Detection function of the Kasa cameras on the Kasa app?

This article will introduce how to set up the Detection function on the Kasa cameras, with these settings, the camera will detect the events and record them for you to view.


Here we take the KC410 as an example.


1. On the Home tab of the Kasa app, tap your camera to enter its Live View page, or go to the Cameras tab, and tap the Manage button on your camera to enter its Live View page.


2. Tap the icon at the top right corner to go to the camera’s Device Settings page.


3. Click on Detection & Sensitivity to enable the Detection types, such as Motion Detection, Person Detection, etc.
Note: The Detection Type and detection configuration page may vary on different camera models.

 


Here we use the Motion Detection type as an example.


3.1. After turning on the Motion Detection feature, you can set the Motion Sensitivity and Record Motion That Lasts At Least option.


3.2. Tap Viewpoint1-4 to add Viewpoints. Then you can tap a viewpoint, set the activity zone at that viewpoint, and tap Save to save the settings.

 


3.3. After you finish the above steps, the Motion Detection feature is enabled and configured, and the motions within the activity zone will be detected by the camera.


4. You can go to the other detection types’ settings page if you want to enable them.


5. You can go to the Notifications page to configure the notification feature if you want to receive notifications when the camera detects events.

 


6. If a microSD card is inserted into the camera and the 24/7 Recording feature is enabled, you can go to the camera’s Live View>24/7 Recordings page to watch the video recordings.

Note: Only the cameras that have microSD card slot support the 24/7 Recording feature.

 


If you have subscribed to the Kasa Care service, you can go to the Activity tab on the Kasa app to watch the detection video clips.
