There are some circumstances in which Tapo smart devices do not work stably or lose connection from time to time, this could be due to the network environment or some other reasons, here are some helpful tips to fix the situation.

1. Ensure the router is working properly. Reboot the router and Tapo device and see if the smart device reconnects.

2. Ensure the Tapo smart device is receiving a Good Wi-Fi signal by checking the signal strength on the Tapo app. If the signal strength is less than -70dBm, move the Tapo device closer to your router for a try.

3. Update the firmware of the Tapo device and ensure the Tapo APP is up to date in the APP store or Google Play.

4. Turn off Advanced Wi-Fi settings on the router like "Band Steering" (also called "Smart Connect" or "Whole-Home Wi-Fi"), Wi-Fi Optimizing or "Channel optimization" etc.

5. [Optional] Try to configure the smart device to another router's 2.4G Wi-Fi or a mobile Hotspot Wi-Fi to verify whether this issue is related to the specific router.

Below are the detailed instructions to reference if needed.

Wifi 6 router loses connection to C125 and C225 cams after rebooting or losing power at home for a period of time.

Router SSID is same for 2.4GHz and 5Ghz band.

All my 40 different devices from various brands reconnect fine (DHCP lease), but Tapo cams wont.

They stay offline (blue led blinking fast).

Set reject 5GHz Wifi for Tapo cam Mac adresses, now they reconnect sometimes, but not always.

It's annoying, have to unplug all cams from AC again after wifi router is rebooted and then they reconnect fine.

Strange behaviour.

My camera i stolen. I need to see who it is

I'm thinking of changing camera brands for nothing seems to work , tried all possible solutions. I've even connected directly with LAN cable directly to router and issue still persists

I can't keep unplugging power cable , get this issue sorted ASAP

My C410 keeps going offline for prolonged periods. It is up to date with the latest firmware (1.0.4 build 250314 Rel. 64817n, hardware 1.20).

Most recently, it went offline for about 10 days, then came back. It remained up for a couple of weeks, and has now gone down again for the past 3 days. It doesn't have the strongest WIFI signal (around 70), but I don't think that explains the issues (since it is sufficient for extended periods, and when the camera is online, it is very responsive). Also, I can via the router see that the connection with the camera is maintained even when "offline", and that data is sent and received from the camera.

The camera is installed at our holiday home, many miles from where we live normally, so there is no means of resetting it, turning it on and off, etc.

This malfunction really needs to get sorted out as I am seriously considering returning the camera on the basis that it simply does not work effectively!
