Model: HS105
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.6

This question applies to the following devices:

HS103

HS105

KP400

HS200

HS210

(I own all of the above)

(And could also include Tp-link's Smart bulbs... And the whole Kasa Family of devices).

Many brands and systems are migrating to being able to control locally (without an outside of the network server/cloud)..

Every now and then, I see a message on my devices that sais "Local Only".

Does this mean that it's being handled directly inside my network?

If it doesn't have this message, is it handled through Tp-link's servers?

Is there a way to handle my devices locally always and if I'm away through Tp-link's servers?

@danielcifuentes

Hello, usually when you are connected to the same WiFi as the smart devices, you are using local control, while when you are connected to guest network or other network, remote control will be required.

In addition, without the message "local only" doesn't mean you are using remote control, it just means you are able to control it from either local network or external network.

Have a nice day!
