Can someone explain to me why the KE100 TRVs need the KH100 hub? All my other Kasa plugs and bulbs just work directly through WiFi, so why can't the TRVs?

I think the hub has a limited range which is not great for those of us living in houses with thick walls and have already established (at a cost) a home WiFi network.

Thanks.

  @John-T

I guess it's because TRV's are battery operated and using less power hungry and way more penetrating frequency of 868Mhz.

Wi-fi would require way more energy for communication and would have way shorter range.

  @John-T

Justis - that makes perfect sense! Thank you - just wish I could have found it on the Kasa site.  Thanks again.

One KH100 kit and one KH100 TRV are now on my Christmas list!
