What To Do If Kasa KE100 Overheats or Not Heating Up?

Suggestions for Kasa KE100 Abnormal Heating Behaviors

This Article Applies to

Kasa KE100

Phenomenon Description

  • Overheating

1. Continuous heating with the temperature significantly exceeding the set value

2. Persistent fluctuation beyond the preset temperature

  • Not Reaching Set Temperature

  • Doesn't Heat/ Temperature Remains Unchanged

*The temperature will fluctuate back and forth above and below the setpoint rather than a smooth value. This is to avoid frequent opening/closing of the valve due to temperature changes.

Troubleshooting Suggestions

1. Keep device's firmware updated.

2. Make sure you are using the AA LR6 1.5V Alkaline batteries

Do NOT use rechargeable batteries, R6, Zn-C, or 1.2V AA batteries.

3. Compatibility

Check whether your thermostat valve is compatible with KE100.  If the valve doesn't fit with KE100's connector or the included adapters, you may purchase a suitable adapter yourself.

hey  @Wayne-TP

If your Kasa KE100 is overheating or not heating up properly, it's essential to first ensure that the device is in a well-ventilated area and not exposed to direct sunlight or other heat sources. Overheating could be due to a malfunctioning component or excessive workload on the device. In the context of big data analysis, where processing demands can be high, it's crucial to monitor the device's temperature closely. You may want to consider distributing the workload across multiple devices or upgrading your infrastructure to handle large-scale data analysis more efficiently. If the problem persists, reaching out to Kasa support for further diagnostics might be necessary.

Thanks!

@JonathanJone I did the torubleshooting guide and it still doesn't fully close the radiator. Heating still goes on.

I think I might have a faulty device (support ticket TKID241038168).

Can you start an exchangeb process or should I just return the device and the tapo sensors I bought from Amazon?
