Hi,
If you fail to set up your Tapo Doorbell, follow the steps below to troubleshoot.
Tips before troubleshooting:
1. Ensure the Tapo app is updated.
2. Ensure the Tapo doorbell is in setup mode. If not, reset the doorbell to factory default settings referring to the user manual.
For Tapo doorbells connecting directly to the router, try the steps below:
Case 1: Unable to detect Tapo Doorbell's Wi-Fi
1. Make sure the doorbell's LED is blinking red and green/blue.
2. Toggle Wi-Fi off and on from your phone’s settings.
3. Try a different phone to detect the camera's Wi-Fi.
4. Reset the doorbell.
Case 2: No internet when connected to the Tapo doorbell's Wi-Fi
The doorbell’s Wi-Fi is used only for setup and has no internet access. Connect to the doorbell's Wi-Fi in your phone’s settings when prompted by the app, then return to the app to continue.
Case 3: Error "Unable to Find/Connect to this Tapo Device"
1. Confirm the selected doorbell model is correct. Move your phone/tablet closer to the doorbell.
2. Turn off cellular data, VPN, and AdGuard apps.
3. On iOS, ensure "Local Network" is enabled: Why do I need to give Local Network permission to TP-Link apps in iOS devices?
4. Ensure the phone is connected to the doorbell's default Wi-Fi.
Case 4: The router Wi-Fi is not found as an available option to connect
1. Move the doorbell closer to the router, tap "RESCAN" to refresh the Wi-Fi list.
2. Ensure the router broadcasts a 2.4GHz signal, or split a separate 2.4GHz network.
3. Manually enter the SSID and password if the network is hidden.
4. Try on a different phone/tablet.
Case 5: Error "Unable to Connect to Your Network", "Pairing Failed"
1. Re-enter the Wi-Fi password. Avoid special characters in SSID/password.
2. Move the doorbell closer to the router. Reset the doorbell, reboot the router, and try again.
3. Adjust the router's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi settings, set channel 6, bandwidth 20MHz, encryption method as WPA2. Disable Mac Filtering and client connection limit.
4. Connect the doorbell to the router's guest Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot.
If the problem persists, contact our customer service team and provide the results of the above troubleshooting steps.
Best Regards,
