Hello

 

I am trying to enable a 5GHz based network for some older devices wich support onlt 2.4GHz WiFi networks.

Can the RE200 handle this task?

SO far when I configured the RE200 with the a 5GHz host network only (no 2.4GHz host network) and enabled the extender networks on 2.4GHz and 5GHz i was able to gain internet access on 5GHZ extended network only. Access the internet with the extended 2.4GHz was not possible.

 

Any feedback is appriciated.

Not with the RE220 V2.   What you are looking at doing is called High speed mode.  The RE200 V3 supports this but the RE200 V2 does not.   With High speed mode you would connect one band (5GHz) to the router and then the other (2.4GHz) to your client devices.
