Model: TL-WA855RE
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: v4.0

I Just installed the TL-WA855RE Extender on my LAN and connected it to a tp-link Archer C60. I Normally have 80MB wireless Internet for both 2.4 and 5G networks. I installed the extender on my 2.4GH network (WIFI_MYNETWORK) as WIFI_MYNETWORK_EXT, but I can't get more than 2MB Internet navigation while connected to this network. I'm totally disapointed with this device and I have one more coming... Did I lose my money???

@CARC1974

I would expect the extender to give somewhere of 30 to 40 Mbps so 2 MB gives you about 16 Mbps. The next thing to try is to move it closer to your router as the signal from the router may not be strong enough to the extender.

@Tony the extender is 23 ft away from the access point. So what's the point of the extender if I have to installe it closer than that?

@CARC1974

I did not see that was the case. My suggestions are meant to try and see if there is an improvement.

I’m having the same problem. The extended network is operating at less than 1/10 the speed of the main network. I moved the TP Link to within 10 feet of my router and the issue persists.

@Kevin.P. Here are speed test screen shots of 1) a connection to my main router and 2) a connection through the extended network.

@Kevin.P.

Test with other wireless devices to see if they also get the slow speeds. Check the LED light on the extender to make sure the signal is good (even in the same room). Make sure the SSID is different on the router and on the extender meaning if your router has 2.4/5, make sure those names are different.

If those checkout, factory default the extender and make sure it is running the latest firmware. If you still have the same limited speed it would be best to contact our support at that point.

@CARC1974 I bought two of these extenders and they were a totally waste of money. I installed both o the extenders 4 feets from the access point and they don't give more than 2MB speed navigation. I don't know why in the box there's a sign with "300Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender" that's not true. I lost my money

@CARC1974 Yeah, pretty much useless. I updated to the latest firmware (855rev4-up-ver1-0-0-P1[20200403-rel57566]), did a factory reset and connected to my Verizon Fios router which is over 300mbs...and 855RE is giving me about 30mbs and I'm only 20ft away. What's the point of connected to 1/10th speed extender? Horrible.
