RE455 Range Extender - Internet Connection Problem
Hello there,
I have bought tp-link AC1750 Wi-Fi range extender. Model number is RE455 which wasn't available in dropdown menu.
I have tried to setup the device; everything goes well either in the app or in the browser but in the last step just before completing the setup there is a pop message that makes connection unsuccessful. I have checked the signal but blue light shows that I have perfect signal from my router.
During my countless tries, once I manage to connect but then it wasn't connected to the internet.
Eventhough it's not connected, the extender itself looks like it's connected.
help me please how can I manage the setup

Are the network names of the wireless router the same?
Log into the router to see if that shows the extender is connected. If so, I would check to see if the router may be blocking anything to the extender by contacting the router manufacturer.

@Tony have the same issue on the same RE455 extender - see https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/225622?page=1

The forum you posted in is assisted with a different team.
Your router should have a DHCP range of 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200 or some range that does not have .1 or .254. Leaving your router to have the gateway address and the broadcast address will cause havoc on your network. Whatever block of IPs you end up using for the DHCP pool, make the outer and extender outside of that.

@Tony Sorry had a typo in the other rpost. My main router DHCP range started at 2 not 1. But it did go up to 254. I brought it down to 199 and now everything is working! Many thanks for your help Tony!

Hi , Looks like I spoke too soon. Even with a main router DHCP pool of .2 to .199, I now still get no outbound internet with DHCP off in the Extender. It worked for around 10 mins last night as per my message, and now nothing.
Extra info - one of the extender connected devices is a linux box. When I login to it, it cannot ping the main router 192.168.1.1 (or google.com).
Any final suggestions? About to give up and send it back to be honest.

@Tony thanks for your reply.
I got in touch with tplink support in both NL and DE. Uk tplink didn't wanted to help as I'm not living there. After trying a few recommendations with DHCP ranges etc. the result is the same unfortunately. Only outbound Internet on extender connected devices when DHCP on the extender is enabled. Which is not what I want..
I've an old netgear extender with static IP, no dhcp that does work on the same LAN , so really do think it's something in the tplink firmware.
Tried several days of messing around now with no luck. Sorry but I'll be returning the device and going for another netgear.
