Model: RE220
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Range extender arrived today. Opened box and followed all instructions to get phone app, log in, and begin process of set up. Got all lights to come on when extender was powered near the router (actually a Comcast cable modem/router). Moved the extender to the spot it should enable coverage through the house. All lights came on. Could see in the app the home wifi network. Could not see in the app wifi list the extender network. Got to the app asking to join the extender network and it could not. Multiple tries. Turned off Cellular Data per suggestion in instructions. No change. Rebooted exender. No change. Tried to Detect all devices on the home wifi network using the app, but it found none even though the cell phone with the app was logged into the home network along with three computers and one other smart phone. Now what in order to get the extender network visible and connected to the app?

@jryodabobs

The extender may be using the original name of your router Wi-Fi so no new wireless network is appearing.

If you are not able to find the extender on your network the router may be blocking communication as the Tether app sends a packet through the network that the TP-Link responds to.

Since that does not seem to work, log into your router and look at the connected devices. Find the IP address that references your extender, and enter that into a web browser while on the router Wi-Fi. You should then get the login page of the extender where you can log in. Once logged in, go to Settings, and change the extended wireless network by adding a -ext so you will then be able to choose what network to connect to.

@jryodabobs Issue has been resolved by Tech Support. Resetting the Extender allowed the network to show up. However, it required a 10 second push of the reset button, not 1 second like the instruction sheet said.
