My extender does nor recognize the 5G network. I followed the instructions on: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1314/, to change the channel to 1 but that did not help.
Any suggestions?

Channel 1 indicates you were modifying the 2.4G on your router, so your router may not have a 5G network for the extender to connect to.
@Tony I was also able to change to channel as follows:
"To solve the problem efficiently, it’s recommended to change 5GHz wireless channel of your router to band 1, which includes channel 36,40,44,48."
So it is 5G.
