How to route between two subnets?
I am trying to set up a static route between two subnets, each separately on a router plugged into a lan port on R600.The R600 is on subnet x.x.0.0/24, and I have assigned reserved IPs for each of my routers attached to lan ports: x.x.0.100 for router with internal subnet x.x.1.0/24; x.x.0.400 for router with subnet x.x.4.0/24.
Somewhat pictorially
x.x.0.1
______|_______
| |
x.x.1.0/24 <--> x.x.1.1 <--> x.x.0.100 < -+- > x.x.0.400 <--> x.x.4.1 <--> x.x.4.0/1
I've tried several route combinations, but most don't work (via pings). What I can do:
- ping from x.x.1.0/24 to x.x.0.1, x.x.0.400, x.x.4.1
- ping from x.x.4.0/24 to x.x.0.1, x.x.0.100 but not x.x.1.1 like above.
FWIW: router on subnet x.x.1.0 is a new Netgear Nighthawk w/ up-to-date stock firmware. The router on subnet x.x.4.1 is an older Netgear router w/ OpenWRT installed.
Any help greatly appreciated.
TIA
