  @PowerlineFW Upgraded to 2.12 using a generic pib file. The non stripped version failed to upgrade on both devices (TL-PA8010Pv2 EU, TL-WPA8630Pv2 EU) but the stripped version completed on both devices.

Side note: Restoring the WIFI settings (.bin file) failed when I used the TP Utility but it succeeded when I used the (web) GUI of the device (TL-WPA8630Pv2 EU)

WPA8630 V2 has less memory than WPA8630 V1 so the non stripped version works only on WPA8630 V1

  @PowerlineFW

Again, many thanks for providing the firmware for the community.

I updated the dropbox folder with the new firmware:

I apoligize but Ive understood something wrong and dont want to brick my devices.

I have a TL-WPA8630P v2.0 EU running 2.0.4 Build 20210716 Rel.41827 and I want to update it.

1) What file do I download exactly?

2) Can I update it thru the web GUI?

the 8630p has two functioning parts, each has it's own firmware. It has the wifi part, that runs the firmware you just said, and it has the powerline part that runs the firmware that was posted here. They are not related and you can update one without touching the other. You can see the powerline version you are running by installing the tplink powerline utility.

  @riahc4 Yes you can.

1) What file do I download exactly?

The powerline update requires two files: .nvm and .pib file. The .nvm firmware files are uploaded in the first post of this thread.

The .pib file must match your device. You wrote that you own a TL-WPA8630P v2.0 EU so the .pib file must match that device model number and P, V2.0 and EU. You can use a generic .pib file (use the link in post #5 by turbolink)

Note: "2.0.4 Build 20210716 Rel.41827" is the firmware version of the WIFI extender, this number does not match the firmware version of the powerline. In the TP Powerline Utility app you can check the firmware of the powerline adapter. Click on "Version". It should look similar to the screenshot in my previous post.

2) Can I update it thru the web GUI?

Yes.

This video shows the update process in more detail. It also shows that a failed update won't brick your device.

  @Ariek

First you say:

The .pib file must match your device

Then

You can use a generic .pib file

  @riahc4

I should have been a bit clearer.

In post #5 by turboleak you will find a collection of pib files (folder: QCA75XX > pib collection) that you can use. Provided that it matches your device (see my note in my previous post: model number, P, version number, and region must match)

This is a generic file, one that you did not extract yourself from the device.

Another, more cumbersome method is to extract a .pib file from the device yourself.
However, this is optional because a generic file accomplishes exactly the same thing.

The video (in my previous post) shows how to do this but I would recommend just using a generic .pib file from post #5.

  @PowerlineFW @riahc @turboleak

I have found a very simple and easy way to extract the .pib files from all connected devices.

Install FRITZ!Powerline Utility (similar to the TP Powerline Utility).

The most recent version is: v1.04.07 (Build: 23.05.22; European date format)

It has a very useful feature: it extracts the pib files of all connected devices at once.

How? Click on "Report", choose "save", and choose "Yes" when asked if you want to save additional support information. ("Do you want to save additional support information to be saved along with the generated report?")
Open the save location of the report. In this directory you will find a zip archive containing all pib files from all connected devices.
You now have all the correct pib files to update your devices.

Option: reset all devices to factory settings or make sure they have the same NMK (Network Membership Key). The default NMK is HomePlugAV.

Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uvxoxtbtys9gdm7/FritzPowerlineUtilityLink.txt?dl=0

or use a search engine and search for: FRITZ!Powerline Utility + 1.04.07
