I need to extend the Wi-Fi but with different SSID and password. some other extenders call this access point mode, and i guess that's what it is, but i need to connect to the host network via wifi.

Access Point Mode is actually specifically for the case in which you will be extending your network with a wired connection.
Range Extenders extend an existing network by repeating the wireless signal of your existing wireless router.
With range extenders, you would use them in their default mode, where you will connect the Range Extender to your host Wi-Fi, and then from the UI, you can choose to set a new SSID and password for the RE's networks.
