Wireless wifi to outbuilding
I want to get wireless wifi out to the barn. From what I understand, I should get the x50 outdoor.
Then, I'm assuming, I need another deco unit to link it to.
I can get that far, but do I need to connect an ethernet cable inside the house from unit to router? Where should it be situated. Does it need line of sight to barn?
Does the outdoor unit need to be plugged in?
Does the outdoor unit hang on the house or barn? Ty

Depending how far is the barn you could use an EAP225-outdoor hang on the house, in line of sight to the barn, connected with an ethernet cable to your router.

@terziyski Thank you. Can I connect wirelessly? My router is in the basement. Can I use the Deco models? The barn is less than 100 feet away and both buildings are metal sided.

You can use Deco, but when using Deco units, the main one should be connected (wired) to your router.
That means if your router is in the basement you have to use at least two - one wired to your router and X50-outdoor (wireless) hang on the house, in line of sight to the barn.
In this case Deco should be in AP mode.
If you can't route an ethernet cable from your basement, you could use a PLC (powerline adapters).
If you can route a cable to an EAP225-Outdoor that would be the best approach in terms of bandwidth and stability.

@terziyski Can I start over? I bought the
TP-Link Deco E3(2-Pack) AC1200 Whole Home Mesh WiFi System. I connected to the router (gigaspire blast.) They (highline fast, fiber optic) installed it so the router is sitting up on the wall by the rafter. I took the extender upstairs and the app couldn't find it. I thought if I bought a longer ethernet cable (cat 6) and moved the deco unit to the center of the basement, that maybe the unit upstairs would connect. Then I thought I could put a deco s4 in the loft of the barn and voila...I'd have internet up there? How far off am i?
I was in a rush to get it hooked up by the weekend and didn't wait for help, sorry.

Basically you have to setup your topology like in the "Deco in AP mode" guide:
Here's what would be my approach if I can't run an ethernet cables throughout the house.
Most probably the extender unit (Deco M3W) is not in the range of the main Deco E3 unit and that's why it can't be detected by the app.
Replacing this unit with Deco S4/M4 probably will solve this issue. Relocating the Deco M3W extender in the barn loft and test the connection would be my next step.
If the Deco app still can't see the Deco M3W extender (buildings are metal sided), I'll add Deco X50-Outdoor (hang on the house, in line of sight to the barn) to widen the wireless coverage toward the barn:

@terziyski Thank you so much! So if I just used the deco x50-outdoor I wouldn't need anything in the loft or would I still need a deco (router?) And I don't need to move the deco e3 and extend the ethernet cable, it's okay where it is?
