Failed switches - Kasa HS200 - rapidly blinking green wifi icon and white circle
Failed switches - Kasa HS200 - rapidly blinking green wifi icon and white circle

I've had this issue going on for awhile.
I've installed a LOT of Kasa switches, 58 of them, of all kinds.
All successfully completed install.
After a period of time, over a few days, four of them showed offline on the app. All of them show rapidly blinking green WIFI icon and white circle.
If I press on, they all turn on and off (80-100 times a minute) the attached lights. Nothing will stop the blinking lights, pressing left reset for 15 seconds or longer, or right reset-to-default for 5 secs, 10 secs, or longer. On some unpredictable occurrence, they will suddenly show they are connected, solid white circle.
All of them are well within the mesh internet. Switches much further away or right next to them all work flawlessly.
The ONLY way to stop it is to remove the switch.
I did that with two them and reinstalled dumb light switches.
Before I remove the last two (on rarely used lights), I want to see if this is a fixable issue others have solved.
All the lights in the house are LED, builder installed.
One switch is to two sconces in the bathroom, and the other is to to sconces outside on the back porch. Different circuits on the breaker panel.

@GetReality I just started having this exact same issue with one of my switches that have been working for 3 years just fine! Were you able to fix it?

The same thing just started happening to me. I had it installed for almost 1.5 years. I came in to the guestroom and I see this insane white circle flashing and green wifi flashing. Never seen that before. So I though normally I can bypass by just tuning it on manually. Tell me why the light starts going on and off continuously and I can hear the switch clicking. Same thing reset does not work. I clicked the reset enough it did something but it's weird.
Did you ever get it sorted out?

I’m experiencing the exact same issue. The switch is showing a flashing green Wi-Fi icon and a white circle. When I press the switch, it causes the connected lights to turn on and off repeatedly, and nothing seems to stop it. Neither resetting, restarting, nor performing a factory reset has any effect.
The switch has been working perfectly fine for two years, and this issue appeared suddenly, without any apparent reason.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

I have the exact same issue.
Only have my switches 2 years.
I have a 2nd one installed and it works perfectly.
Tried reset many times and even switched the breaker on/off.
Weird thing is it started working again for 2 days and then broke down again.
I am at factory defaults and cannot re-connect it.
No changes to Network,
I think this may have occurred after a short power failure.

@GetReality I've had the same issue with several of mine, at least 5. Replaced one last night (HS201) and one this morning (HS200). I'm thinking about going to a different brand. Like you, I've installed a lot of these in the house.

@Wayne-TP I am afraid it's common. I have 100+ kasa lightswitch installed. When it's broken, it acts like that, blinking rapidly both circle and wifi light.
Over 10% of my kasa broke after 3-4 years.

With all due respect, I have to disagree with the assessment that this issue is "uncommon." I am experiencing this exact same failure, and it has already happened to two of my approximately 15 Kasa switches, both of which were less than two years old.
A quick look through this forum shows that this is a recurring hardware failure for other loyal Kasa customers. This is clearly a common failure mode for these switches after a certain period of use.
To be told this is "unusual" and that we should each pursue individual support tickets is disappointing. We have already tried all the troubleshooting steps—restarts, resets, and factory resets do not work. The only "solution" has been to replace the switches at our own expense.
After all the frustration, I have already replaced my two failed switches after getting no support from TPLink. My main concern now is the reliability of the rest of my Kasa devices. I sincerely hope TP-Link acknowledges this as a widespread hardware issue and provides a more substantive response to the community.

It is VERY common. Evidently...
This model suffers from a design issue and needs to be replaced regardless of warranty period.
