Feature Requests for the Tether App and WebUI
Hello, I'm really liking this router after having been a proponent of ASUS' routers and their controls. I'm noticing that the Tether app, which is meant for convenient control of my network using a smartdevice, has maybe a missing feature that is on the WebUI control panel but is NOT built into the Tether app. In the WebUI > Parental Controls > Modify > Content Filter > Blocked Sites / Allowed Sites - you can add both a URL or a keyword within the URL you intend on blocking. When using the Tether app (at least on iPhone OS) you only have the option to block/allow URLs -- it won't let you add keywords, it's URL only. I request that keywords be included in the Tether app just like it is in the WebUI. The Teher app, does SHOW all your entries, including keywords but it wont let you add keywords. Personally, I'd like to see 1:1 feature matching of the WebUI and the Tether app, and see no reason to leave out features on one vs the other - in other words, the Tether app should match the WebUI 1:1; it should all be the same.
Misc features, and each would be included in the WebUI *AND* the Tether app.
1) With AI becoming so prevalent, I want to suggest AI having it's own category in the Parental Controls > Profile > Content Filter > Select Categories section. My OCD thinks this list should be in alphabetical order but I think AI should be added in this list. Chat bots, particularly AI boyfriend/girlfriend chat bots are becoming an issue for kids.
2) Add/include a global-based URL/keyword block/allow list. My idea is to add a global list under the Home Shield section, below Network Check, Global Control, then Parental Controls. Simply keep Parental Controls as is, allowing for blocking of sites/keywords for particular individuals adn their particular devices, however it would be more robust if there was also a list for ANY device, ie. a guest, given access to the network. Any URL/keyword added to the universal blocklist/whitelist will be blocked/allowed for any device, including the profiles and the lists associated with those profiles. Having a global list of blocked/allows sites/site keywords makes it easier to create one list VS having to copy/paste all URLs/keywords to each individual profile, a newly created profile (more on that below) = timely and tedious. Keeping it simple = power, knocking two birds with one stone.
3) When adding a new profile, add the option to copy the blocked/allowed list from another profile. Options = power.
4) In the Tether app, on the front page where you see your device > Clients and scroll down you can see Offline Clients. In the WebUI, you can only see Connected Clients; there is no option to see Offline Clients. Not sure if this is an afterthought or intentional, much like the keywords working on WebUI and not on the Tether app, but I would like to be able to see the Offline Client list in the WebUI - there should be no reason not too. Feature inconsistency between the two.
5) When modifying the a Client in the Client List you view a whole slew of data for that individual client, ie. icon, traffic usage today, family member, high priority, device isolation. When you tap on the client name you get device type > icon, device name, device brand (sometimes) and system version. When you do the same in the WebUI you only get device name and speed limit. I recommend making this a 1:1 feature, and have what the Tether app shows to also appear on the WebUI VS favoring one or the other.
6) Assuming it doesn't already with adding keywords but being allowed to add just top-level domains like *.ai. or just .ai to the block/allowed lists - global if you add one, and into the indivdual profile lists.
