Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20241224 Rel. 35085 (8583)

Upgraded firmware a few days ago to latest available version. 5 GHz connectivity is unstable and disconnects multiple times every hour.

 

Previous firmware was relatively stable without this issue. Any ideas on whether this is a known issue?

 

One note, in System Tools => Time Settings, there is currently no option to sync time via internet or with PC, and also although my TP-Link router has synced time properly with GMT-5 Eastern/US selected, I have had to select (GMT-04:00) Atlantic Time (Canada) on the extender to set the current time, otherwise it appears one hour prior. Could time sync be a factor? Have just adjusted time zone, will see if things stabilize.

  @DarthContinent I also do not think Time Zone affects performance, at least as long as you stick to NA where the WiFi regulations are the same.  Hardware Version is 2.6?

 

Regarding correcting the time I suspect yours might be off because of the DST settings:

 

2nd Sunday in March to 1st Sunday in November.  (I think I adjusted the time to 2 am or 02:00)...

@jzchen I have adjusted the DST settings as suggested and the time now reads properly for GMT-5.

 

Otherwise, I have done a full factory reset, then reloaded backup config. So far, so good, for several hours now today.

I have the same issue and its unusable now, the connection just goes down way too often. Did u find a fix?

@DaanishG yeah, Google Gemini compiled a list of stuff to try, so I changed settings on my router for 5 GHz to make the Channel Width narrower, just 20 MHz instead of I think 20/40/60 MHz.

 

I also tried changing the Channel value from Auto to specifically 40, per recommendation for one of the lower ones around that value.

I didn't change any settings on the RE500X itself, just the router. So far, I've seen the 5 GHz network go down only once in a whole day, vs multiple times per hour, so this seems like it may've helped. Good luck!
