After being fed up with CenturyLink modems only lasting 6 months I decided to purchase a TD-8816 to try out.
Once I figured out that I needed to manually enter the VCI and VPI settings it connected to the internet. Speeds were the same and latency was 10% lower than the CenturyLink provided modem. However...
Every 10-20 seconds I get a massive latency spike(see attached image) that doesn't happen with the old modem. During normal usage it isn't noticeable. But makes it nearly impossible to play online games that require a constant connection.
I have tried using the modem in bridged and PPPoE modes. But both configurations do the same thing.
Any help would be appreciated since CenturyLink basically says "Not our modem. Not our problem".
