So I picked up the 4020 kit with 2 PA4010 units. I didnt quite understand the way the numbers in the firmware translated but I knew that the firmware on them was not the same that was the latest on the web site so I updated one. That is when I found out that the firmware on the website is OLDER.

The unit is the US TL-PA4010 hardware version 1.2. They COME WITH firmware 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_ 160311_906 which adds 600mbps capabilities. Right now I have one running 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_ 160311_906 still and the other running 1.1.0.871-04_401011_150416_ 003 (the "newest" on the website).

Does ANYONE know where I can download 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_ 160311_906? I am pretty handy with searching for things on the internets and I've had no luck pulling a link. I've spotted some people running the firmware but no one asking where to get it (or supplying a download link).

Initial email support hasn't yielded much yet. After a quick response with the support not understanding the situation (Yes, the newest firmware may not match information in front of you, no I don't have a mystical unicorn, there IS a newer firmware!) I'm waiting on a reply.

Same issue. 'Updated' to V 1.1 firmware and discovered the 'old' version was 1.3.

Checked them out but those with similar power source (Voltage and Frequency) seemed to have either the same older version or a version that is even older still. :( TP-Link support was not very helpful.

The firmware you're looking for ( 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_ 160311_906) is on the UK support page. I went thru the same thing you did (downloaded the latest Canada FW to find out it downgraded it from the version it came from), so I searched the other countries as suggested here and found it on the UK support site. Updated the firmware back to the "original" firmware and it seems to be working fine (also changed from 500 to 600Mbps). FYI my device shows version "US/1.2" on the sticker.

The firmware you're looking for ( 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_ 160311_906) is on the UK support page. I did the same thing (downloaded the "latest" update from the Canada support page and it "downgraged" my device to 500Mbps and older version). I downloaded the one from the UK and it restored the version and 600Mbps. FYI my device shows "US/1.2" on the sticker.

One more update (This site isn't showing/lettling me edit previous post): I actually got better speeds with the latest FW on Canada site (TL-PA4010(US)_V1_150424) than with the newer one from the UK.

Guys, please remember that PLC firmware is country specific for regulatory reasons. If you're running another country's firmware, you have a certain chance of your device emissions disturbing something important (like emergency services radio) in the proximity of your house.

I am not trying to get anyone to use wrong country's firmware (and I personally got better performance with my country's specific firmware) but keep in mind the device came with the UK firmware version in it -- I was just providing the means to return it to the original firmware version in case you accidentally loaded an older firmware and were unable to find the original one (which happened to me).
Since the device came with 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_ 160311_906 (UK firmware) then either TP-Link made a gross mistake (by having the wrong firmware on a Canada/US device) OR TP-Link thought it was fine to use that firmware in Canada/US.

The EU / UK should be interchangeable as regards regulations as both must comply with EU Directive (204/108/EC).
