Just got the Re650 as an upgrade to an old extender. Setup went perfect. I connected to both 2.4 and 5ghz bands transmitting from my ASUS 1900.When I look at wireless connection list on my ASUS router, I only see The TP client for the 2.4ghz connection. The ASUS shows list of both 2.4 and 5ghz clients connected.Shouldn't I see a TP link 2.4 and a 5 ghz client connected on the ASUS client list?

Is there a client connecting to TP 5G? If TP 5G and ASUS 5G use the same ssid, clients may connect to ASUS 5G.
That's will be the reason why you don't see TP 5G clients in ASUS list.

Besides, how did you tell the clients in the list of ASUS connects to ASUS or TP?

Yes. A 5g client is conformed connected to the Tp extender when I see only the 2.4 connection on the ASUS. The TP has a different SSID for both 5 & 2.4g. I also confirmed I can see the client Connected to the TP via the teacher app. From the status and connections I am seeing hit the ASUS, It appears that the TP is then using the 2.4g to pass these inbound 5g connections to the ASUS router.

Hmm, that''s weird. Are both 2.4G and 5G lights are on on the extender? Can the router see the 5G mac address of the extender?

All lights are on on the TP extender. Not sure how to find the MAC address for individual signals. Only one on the label of the TP. Interesting that that MAC address on the label is not the MAC address I see when looking at the connection on the ASUS router.

That mac address it the specific one the extender using to communicate with the router.
I checked my router's DHCP list, I can see the Mac address of clients connected to extender's 5G and 2.4G, but only one Mac address of RE650.
Maybe the your device connected to extender's 5G is using a static IP address.

yes. That's it!! The RE650 is making individual "anonymous" 5ghz connections to the ASUS router for each device connected to the RE650 at 5ghz.

I don't think the Mac address of RE650 is the router's DHCP list is for 2.4G.
It should be an virtual mac address used to communicating with the router.
You may reset the RE650 and reconfigure it but skip the 2.4G step. You should be to find the same Mac address in the router's DHCP list.
