Concerned About LED Controller Errors in Your Router’s System Logs?

If you have found yourself looking at your router’s system logs when troubleshooting, you may have seen a few entries for led-controllers. These entries can get quite confusing, so make sure to take a look at the below guide to get a better idea of what the different LEDs mean.

*Please Note that the LED Controller Notifications in the Log and the Status of the LED are for reference only and should not be overly relied upon due to potential inaccuracies.

In the system log of the router, you will oftentimes see notifications given in the following formats:

2023-11-20 10:56:16 led-controller[1104]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN1_ON

2023-11-20 10:56:15 led-controller[1104]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN0_OFF

2023-11-20 10:56:15 led-controller[1104]: <6> 288051 Start to run LAN_OFF

2023-11-20 10:55:00 led-controller[1104]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN1_OFF

2023-11-20 10:55:00 led-controller[1104]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN0_ON

2023-11-20 10:55:00 led-controller[1104]: <6> 288051 Start to run LAN_OFF

In simple terms, WAN1 represents the Internet green LED, WAN0 represents the Internet orange LED, and LAN represents the LAN LED. This means that the orange and green LEDs will likely trade positions with each change in connection.

  • WAN1 – Internet Green LED
  • WAN0 – Internet Orange LED
  • LAN – LAN LED
