C9 Problem with D Link switch

Just bought a Archer C9 that replaced an old Cisco EA4500 router for home. Got everything working. however, when I connect a line from the router to a D-Link DGS-1008G switch, the router stops working (freezes), until I disconnect from the switch and then it works normally. I've tried changing the cable connecting the two, but does not solve the problem. Any thoughts?
