Archer C7 wifi performance incredibly slow

I have a new Archer C7 and I am getting insanely slow wifi speeds.
Hardwired Ethernet = 60-70 mbps
Wireless-N 2.4GHz full bars max signal = 5-8 mbps. This is right next to the router.
I've updated to the latest firmware and no improvement in performance.
Any ideas?
