I have AC1300 8853-T4U US 2.0

Mine may be of a somewhat older manufacturing date,

According to https://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details/cat-5520_T4U-V2.html SoftAP is supported and Windows 10 is supporrted on this model. However https://www.tp-link.com/my/win10compatibility.html does not list it either way.


I tried both the Microsoft driver and then the driver downloaded from the TP-Link site.
In both cases the adapter remains shown by Windows as

Hosted network supported : Noand therefore I cannot get hosted networking to work of course.

Also the TP-Link Utility does not show SoftAP mode as available at all - that choice is disabled.

I tried the Windows 8.1 driver and, with that, I do get

Hosted network supported : Yesbut the TP-Link Utility still shows Soft-AP mode as unavailable. With the Windows 8.1 driver, I was able to get it to work in hosted mode with PDANet but it hangs whenever the load gets heavy. I tried a whole bunch of driver parameter settings in Windows at random but not fixed it.

So what is the situation here?

How can I get it working as advertised?

Is there another driver version or level somewhere? Does it need to be flashed?
