Pairing stops after a few minutes

At first I had them on different circuits with one of them plugged into the router then I moved them so they would be in the same room and neither one was plugged into anything and the pairing stopped after a few minutes. When one of them was plugged into the router the other one had nothing plugged into it. I am going to try plugging something into the one and see If that makes a difference. Any suggestions. I have not update the firmware yet.
