test DNS root fails
When on the modem page for diagnostic tools and test internet surfing, the DNS root chronically fails. the ping primary Primary Domain Name server sometimes fails. This morning both failed. Why would these fail? I can still surf the internet, but it seems there must be a reason for the fail.

What is the model, hardware version, and firmwrae build you are using.
Where in the menu are you doing the tests?

TP-W8980 is the model. When the modem page comes up there is a list on the left sidebar which includes "diagnostic". On that page is a "test internet surfing" and the modem runs a set of tests which you can see which passes and which fails. Like if the DHCP server connection fails rather than some other function, you can tell why you cannot access the internet.

Please run the test again that shows the errors, take a screenshot and send a email to: ussupportteam@tp-link.com

The info I got from our testing team was as long as there is internet then this error can be ignored. The detection method seems to be outdated which we have not used in a long time.
