I need to build a new home network with 10/100/1000 ethernet in the main room and WiFi throughout the house, which will need some extending/mesh to provide full coverage. It also needs to host a USB hub with many hard drives connected, some of which are Time Machine backups.

It looks like some there were a few specific older TP-Link models that had Time Machine support. Does that mean none of the current models do?

p.s. Please don't tell me that I should use a NAS instead - I need to eject individual drives to go on trips. (and it will cost a fortune to replace all 100+TB of space)

Our FAQ will be updated to reflect newer models.

So far the known routers that support Time Machine are: Archer C4000v1/A20v1/C5400v1/AX6000v1/AX11000v1.

I've got an A20 and it does have the Time Machine option.

If you go here, https://emulator.tp-link.com/a20-us-v1/index.html, you can 'run' the GUI and under ADVANCED tab, USB Sharing, you can see Time Machine's tab.

They also have a FAQ on this at https://www.tp-link.com/cz/support/faq/1564/ that lists other models that have that feature but it is from before the A series time.

I can't comment on how they would handle a USB hub connected vs. a stand-alone USB drive.

thanks for pointing to the A20. found AC4000 (that says A20 in the small print) on products page and chased document links.

It does say it will support a hub with four drives and Time Machine. That's good news for most of my Apple friends.

Limits my options, so still looking and remembering its here.
