Model: Archer C9
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20171219 rel.57874(5553)

Recently my router has started to randomly (haven't found any root cause). A reboot seems to fix it everytime but within a day or two it's back to slowing the speed and my ping gets very slow.

As an example my internet connection is only 10mbps DSL. Normally when this happens my speed lowers to anywhere from 3-5mbps (this is over 2.4GHz band wifi).

When this happened a couple days ago I was struggling to access any websites so I performed a tracert to google's DNS (8.8.8.8) and almost every hop responded with around 2xxx ms. When  working  correctly I get  10-20 ms response times on a tracert to google. (using this as known reliable connection).

I also checked the router's firmware updater within the web GUI and it says it's up to date (assuming that's correct).

I'm sure I left out some information,  please let me know what other info would help resolve the problem!

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

@Jaydons

If you are noticing a slow down on all devices have you tired leaving your computer connected to your DSL connection (bypassing the router) to make sure the connection does not slow?

@Tony I confirmed it's not an issue with the ISP or modem/router from the ISP.

@Jaydons

A couple of things you can possibly try:

-User either the default ISP DNS in the router WAN settings or use different DNS servers

-Disable QoS (Advanced > QoS > Settings)

-Disable NAT Boost (Advanced > System Tools > System Parameters)

@Jaydons

I have exactly the same problem with the same type of device.

I will try what Tony said and see.

Regards!

NAT Boost and QoS was already disabled. DNS is the ISP DNS.

So, there is nothing to change.

Please advise.

@JuankaCRC I ended up just buying a new router (I went overboard and go a ubiquiti USG, switch and AP) obviously not needed but I like toys. My network runs flawlessly now.
