Model: Archer AX3000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20200426 rel.69563(5553)

Having similar issues to the previous thread re: slow performance using the AX3000. The router is receiving speeds in excess of 300 mbps. On the 5 ghz band, the router is broadcasting out 200-250mbps plus in short-range, and still 200mbps from longer distance. The 2.4 ghz band, though, is transmitting barely 50 mbps if I'm lucky. Have tried:

- Changing the 2.4 ghz channel from auto to channel specified

- Changing the channel width to 20 mhz (and to 40 mhz)

- Turning off the ax band

- Factory resetting and setting up via the web interface (initially did it through Tether)

QoS is not enabled, so it shouldn't be a priority issue.

Any other ideas / thoughts on why the 2.4 ghz is performing so poorly?

@spp17

The 2.4GHz band broadcasts further compared to the 5GHz but it is not faster. For devices that need speed, stick to the 5GHz, the 2.4GHz would be a good alternative should the 5GHz signal be too weak.

@Tony - I get that, but the equipment the router replaced (a gateway modem / router) routinely delivered speeds in excess of 200 mbps in my apartment off the 2.4 ghz band, so it's almost certainly not signal interference that's causing that degradation in performance. (The wireless on that gateway device is off now to prevent any further signal interference). I'm basically sitting next to the device when testing and the 2.4 ghz underdelivers by a mile off the AX3000 compared to other equipment.

So, can it really be that the AX3000 (a brand new piece of equipment) is unable to deliver speeds of more than 50 mbps (plus or minus) off it's 2.4 ghz band? If not - is it just my piece of equipment or is it a firmware issue?

@OneidaLake I'm still in the process with support. I hope they resolve it - but my hopes aren't huge there based on other threads (although I'm hoping that's just random)

The good news is that the 5 ghz band is working great. The bad news is that I don't exactly feel like I've gotten what I paid for since the 2.4 ghz is so bad (and so spotty - also having ping / jitter / packet loss issues for the 2.4 band)

@spp17

What you can do for now is to modify the wireless channels and width to see if you get any improvement.

If you feel the device is bad I would suggest contacting our support at that point: Link

@Tony appreciate your note, but have tried that multiple times to no avail. Am in the middle of a support ticket - TBD on resolution with them.

Hi,

AX50

I was on fw 1.07, no pb so far, just pretty slow wifi in both 2G/5G compare to my old router D-LINK, after upgrading to FW1.08, no change about speed, but horrible ping, every 10 sec it reached 200/250ms for 3 sec then back to normal, 15/20ms and so on...

Downgraded to previous FW to fix this.

You might try different FW

Hope it will help
