Model: TL-PA9020P KIT
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: Unknown

Have a camera far out in my yard using POE and Cat6 to reach it. Eventually it makes its way back to a garden box where my pond pump is at, and I have this homeplug plugged into one of the recepticals in the box. The other is upstairs in the house where the cable modem and other stuff is at.

The homeplug is paired, and they see each other according to the lights. Occasionally I am able to ping the camera, and if I power cycle the unit inside, it will stay ok, for a while, then never see it again until i power cycle it.

When its up, the ping times vary from 40ms to 3420ms. I am not sure what the deal is. Im going to try and run another ethernet cable closer to the outside of the house, and then have that homeplug plugged directly into the outside of my house and see if that works any better.

I chose this model due to the fancy noise filtering, and long distance run. I am pretty sure that from where the homeplug is in the house to the homeplug in my garden box is less than 100 meters. It defintely seems to be the homeplug setup.

Anyone have any advice on this?

power cycle of the indoor unit when previously unable to ping the camera before power cycle.

@SJAMISON

It may be a distance issue. There is the distance it is capable of reaching, but other factors will reduce the actual result. Wiring quality, noise from other devices, etc.

I would place the two adapters in the same household just to see if the same issue happens to determine if it is the environment or the devices.

@Tony I think it was the environment. That outlet also had my pond pump on it, so not sure if that introduces "noise" ?

I ran another 100 ft ethernet cable above ground to get it near an outlet on my house with an extension cord, and that seems to have fixed it. So i plan to burry some conduit and get this trenched up to the house at this point.
