Model: TL-WR902AC
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 191209

I am using the TL-WR902AC in Client mode to connect a TiVo Mini to a wireless network.  I have a few questions for those more knowldegable than me.

1. Is it possible to connect to BOTH 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless bands simultaneously?

2. If I must choose one or the other, my 2.4 GHz network shows up with signal strenght of 98, while the 5 GHz shows up with 50. Which would be a better choice for video streaming?

@Jeff-4

Hi Jeff,

1.  No in client mode the 902AC is acting like a network adapter.  You can only connect to 1 band at a time.

2.  2.4Ghz has greater range but smaller through put.  It has a higher chance network buffering.  The 5 GHz has lower range but higher throughput so less buffering.  If you are watching HD i'd recommend if possible to use the 5GHz.

Thanks! I'll try the 5 GHz connection. My fear is that it may not be as stable than the 2.4 GHZ, but I can easily switch back. By the way, to access the TL-WR902AC settings readily, I have set a static IP address and turned off its DHCP server. Otherwise I need to randomly search through various IPs assigned by the server on my router to find it. Strangely, the V3 TL-WR902AC is not compatible with TP-Link's Tether app.
