Model: Adapter
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 3.2.4_902104_190506_901

Hello,

I recently set up a couple of powerline adapters in order to try to improve my home network speeds. I have a 600mbps down internet connection, and when I test with my laptop connected with ethernet directly to the router I get about that speed (600mpbs) reported from a speed test. However, when I connect to my powerline adapter, I only see about 70mpbs. According to the PLC utility, the speed between the powerline adapters (one connected directly to the router) is about 325mbps each way. Surely this should mean I should see about 325mpbs on an internet speed test? Can someone explain the discrepancy to me, or offer any advice on how I could improve the connect speed? The adapters are hardware version v4, and I don't see any firmware updates for that version.

Thanks!

Here is an article regarding the AV speeds and what you actually get:

@Tony Thank you for the reply. I had read that article, and it makes sense to me - I don't expect to get a gigbit of throughput, but instead 30% ish of that. And that's what is reported in the PLC application - about 325mbps. However, my actual speed, as measured using an internet speed test, is more like 70mpbs. I understand the discrepancy between 1000mpbs advertised speed and the 325mpbs actual speed. I don't understand the discrepancy between the 325mpbs reported speed and the 70mpbs I'm actually getting in practice.

@tdavies

Every outlet can provide different speeds. What you could try is to test every available outlet where you planned to place the powerline as I have seen speed increases from that.
