Model: Archer C60
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.0 Build 20161206 rel. 60287

Similar problem to others here with different modems. I have updated my router settings as per help file to work with new Apple IOS restrictions, but still am seeing "Weak Security"  and WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) is not considered secure in IOS WiFi settings.

My setting (for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz):

I have restarted modem and forgoten the wireless networks several times.

@CharlieJeit

If you use a Wi-fi analyzer (any free one), what does the network show as far as the details of the encryption? Please post a screenshot.

@Tony

None of the IOS net analyzer apps I have looked at seem to give any info on encryption. Network Analyzer from technet is what I normally use and is is pretty comprehensive for everything which Apple allows.

To clarify my original post I can connect to both 2.4 and 5GHz SSIDs on the C60 - it is just that the warning persists.

I also have a TP-Link Wireless N Access Point WA801ND also set to WPA2-PSK AES and this connect without any warning - so the problem does seem to be C60 related.

@CharlieJeit @Tony I'm also having the same issue on my Archer C60 v2.0. Settings updated to WPA2 and AES but iOS14 devices still have a bit of trouble connecting and when connected show Weak Security. I've restarted, forgotten network & reconnected etc but no change.

@CharlieJeit I had the exact same problem. I eventually contacted tp-link via their online chat. They just emailed me a file to correct this issue. I've updated my Archer C60 V2 and my iphone is no longer stating that it's weak security. I don't seem to be able to attach the file to this thread but it is called ArcherC60v2_un-up-ver2-1-1-P1[20180608-rel42430].bin

I'm happy to email the file to anyone if they prefer.

@CharlieJeit

Great

Just applied this firmware update and it seems to fix the problem.

I was running 2.0.0 and am now on 2.1.1 - a big jump!

Before I did the manual update I did an online version check and was told I was on the current version (2.0.0). Presumably 2.1.1 is a beta and not on general release?

Does anyone have a changelog file for it?

Thanks

Charlie

I keep getting "invalid file type" when uploading the file posted by @Simosky:

I'm still getting the weak security warning on iOS and would really appreciate if anyone can provide a solution on how to install this firmware upgrade to get rid of it.

Some additional info:

The current router settings for wireless security has been saved as WPA-2 PSK only:

Router specs:

Hardware Version: Archer C60 V2.0

Firmware Version: 2.0.0 Build 20161206 rel. 65407

When researching online people said renaming it to something shorter, e.g. firmware.bin, or ArcherC60(EU)_V2_20180608.bin would fix it, but it hasn't.

@Dooba

There are two different versions usually, depending on country (or where the router was purchased). A US firmware will not (usually) install on a non-US built router and visa versa.

Beta Firmware if provided by Support and would be for your specific Router. It may not even work on all routers of the same model and some are different versions of the model (I.E. V1.0, V2.0, etc.).

If you need/want a Beta f/w version you'll need to contact support. Want a newer one than you have, you have to go to SUPPORT on the top menu, enter the model number, and then the Download Center and select the VERSION you have and see what firmware if offered, and d/l the latest. Can also do this via the router itself on the ADVANCED, SYSTEM, FIRMWARE tab via CHECK FOR UPDATES.

@IrvSp

Thanks for the response, I really appreciate it.

I'll contact support and see how it goes. Is it common to have support provide a beta firmware upgrade for a given issue? Seems like an unusual request that they wouldn't be obliged to do.

In other words, if I refer them to this post and request the same fix for my router version, would they be able to provide one?
