I have bought a AC1900 (AC1900) to replace my existing TP router. My present router is hard wired to my computer because the computer does not have wifi capability.

I have looked at the instructions and it goes into great detail on connecting the router wirelessly but very little on connecting it from router to computer by hardwire. The insturctions do show a hardwired connection between the router and the computer and says it is method 2. After this there is no mention of method two.

Is there a location on the web which gives details (step by step) on doing this??

What is the actual model number? AC1900 is for a few, A9, C9, etc.

There should be LAN ports on the back of router, use those to connect a PC that is wired is the normal method.

@IrvSp

My model is Archer A8. I haven't opened the package. Yes it does have a lan port but the instructions I see on line and the manual itself do not give any details on connecting it thru the lan.

The TP-link router I'm replacing had instructions to set it up with a lan. I typed in the 192.168.0.1 in the browser and went thru the setup. Can I do the same with the Archer A8?

If so is it the same address, 192.168.0.1?

The A8 User's Guide does tell you how to do it, although not directly.

TP-Link has sort of switched to using the phone/tablet app using wifi via Tether for the routers now it seems.

The User's Guide is at https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202011/20201116/1910012778_Archer%20A8_UG_V1.pdf

Chapter 4 on page 15 tells you how. Chapter 4.3 tells you how to do it manually. All you need do is plug the PC's ethernet cable into on of the LAN ports on the back of the router and follow the instructions.

Not all routers might assign 192.168.0.1, some may use 192.168.1.1 or something else even.
