Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.7 Build 20201010 rel.49458

Does anyone know if any of the OneMesh routers can act as an "extender" if they are turned in to access point mode?

If they can't, does anyone have any experience with two of the same Archer models broadcasting the exact same network information causing issues (one as a router, the other as access point)?

Thanks!

@Username00

In a OneMesh network, you can only have one router.

You can go with the alternative and have two routers one being a router, and the other acting like an access point with the same network name and passwords.

In a mesh network, the network devices (router, extender) are able to recommend to the client the network node to connect to as you roam. When having a router and an access point with the same name, the client devices no longer get recommendations. What happens is changing from one network node to another is then entirely dependent on the device itself.

@Tony

 I was just wondering if the OneMesh was similar to  Asus' AiMesh network (https://www.asus.com/us/site/aimesh/)  - where you can take 2 routers that support AiMesh and have one configured as the router and the other as an access point.  They then communicate with each other via ethernet or wireless backhaul as a mesh network and manage the handoff of wireless devices.

It didn't appear to be as per the OneMesh product page and some 2019 posts on the Interwebs - but hoping that maybe someone knew more updated information.

The A6 is a great little device but it's a shame that they haven't developed the OneMesh system a bit more by now.

Thanks!
